Skills and shapes we can work on together include but are not limited to:

  • centering, coning, and opening

  • pulling walls

  • basic, shorter cylinders (1-2 pounds / 4-6 inches in height)

  • pulling taller walls (2+ pounds, over 6 inches in height)

  • throwing bigger (3+ pounds, over 8 inches)

  • specific forms: bowls, mugs, vases, bottles, spoon rests, plates, closed forms, lidded jars, and more…

We will meet via Zoom, and I’ll be sharing two angles/views of what I’m doing. You can set up your phone to show your wheel - whether in a quiet area of a shared studio with earphones or at home if you have a wheel there.

What my students are saying…

“Today was such an amazing chance to absorb your expertise, energy, and enthusiasm for ceramics, and receive real time feedback on my own technique that I could apply immediately to my throwing practice as I explore more complex shapes and forms.

It was so good, you have a very natural approach to instruction and I love the approach we took with a very specific shape in mind.

The zoom format worked and felt just like any other one on one private lesson - definitely exceeded expectations on how effectively you could observe and coach my process in real time. I can’t wait to do it again!”

“I had such a great experience during my first session with Diane!

I took lessons at a studio previously and wasn’t sure if I would get the same experience and instruction over zoom, but was so pleasantly surprised and excited by how much progress I made in only an hour together.

I was really struggling to center my work and pull tall and even walls, but Diane was able to pinpoint exactly where I was going wrong and provided really helpful feedback and tips for correcting my technique.

I really enjoyed working one on one with someone so passionate about ceramics and willing to share their expertise, and I can’t wait for our next lesson! 🤍”
