Frequently Asked Questions

Order & Shipping Related

When will my order be shipped?

Orders for each drop begin shipping approximately one week after the sale begins, and orders ship in a first-in-first-out succession.

So, the first orders that came in at the beginning of the sale go out first, and so on.

If you ordered multiple times during the sale, I will group items together with your earliest order. If you make multiple orders during a sale, it’s best to send me a separate email or reply to an order confirmation on the latest order to give me a heads up that you’ve ordered more than once.

Note that, in order to reduce waste, I do not keep a large stock of shipping boxes on-hand. Following the first day of each collection drop, I make a tally of all boxes I will need to ship the orders and place a bulk order for what I will need (give or take).

Those take anywhere from 3-5 business days to arrive and I begin sending your orders out as soon as they do!

How is my order going to be shipped?

I ship all packages via USPS (United States Post Office) shipping.

That’s the post office! So it’ll arrive from your regular mail or packages carrier if they are separate folks.

Please allow time for you order to be shipped and then for transit time. I do not have a warehouse or anyone else fulfilling these orders. You’ll receive a shipment notification email when the package is on its way.

Please note that it may take up to 7 full business days for your order to arrive once it has been shipped.

How is the shipping fee for my order calculated?

Each order has a base shipping rate of $12.95, then $2.95 is added per item, beginning with the first item, to create your total.

For example:

Base of $12.95 + 1 Item @ $2.95 each = $15.90

Base of $12.95 + 2 Items @ $2.95 each = $18.85

Base of $12.95 + 3 Items @ $2.95 each = $21.80

… and so on.

The real costs of shipping & materials:

  • Shipping carrier fee: anywhere from $7 - 20 depending on the size, weight and distance to travel of each box. Most single items (like mugs, tumblers, etc.) have a carrier cost of around $8-10. Most boxes I ship tend to cost closer to $12 and up. And, yes, I use an online service to save as much as possible on shipping fees!

  • Double-walled box: between $1.85 and $3.00 each, depending on size

  • Dissolvable starch packing peanuts: ~$1.35 per box to fill properly

  • Paper wrapping for items & packing inside: ~$.50 per shipment

That does not include the time/labor it takes for me to pack the order!

Using the proper packing materials and putting effort into how things are packed for shipping breakable ceramic items is critical!

I would much rather invest in the right materials and spend the time to do it right and have your item arrive intact than disappoint us both by having it broken in transit!

What shipping materials are used and how do I dispose of them?

I use double wall corrugated cardboard boxes for extra stability in travel. This means your box can’t easily be dented, punctured, or broken.

Your item(s) are then wrapped in a honeycomb mesh & white paper combination (Ranpak) for padding. They are packed very tightly inside of the box as any movement of the items inside of the box as they travel to you is not what we want!

I fill the box with a combination of paper (primarily in the corners for stability) and starch-based eco-friendly packing peanuts.

Disposal:
The packing peanuts should be dissolved in a sink with water.
The box and any paper can be re-used or recycled. The boxes are extremely sturdy and I do recommend re-using them if you can!

What if my order arrives broken?

Please take a photo and reach out to me by replying to your order confirmation email or the via the about page on this site if this happens to you! I know we’ll both be extremely sad and disappointed if this happens. I will refund the order and we can work together on a plan for something to replace it for a future order if you’d like.

Do you take returns?

No, I do not take returns. All items are final sale.

Product & Care Related

What materials are used in your work?

I work in stoneware clay bodies.
All glazes used on dinnerware / drinking vessels, etc. are food-safe.

How do I take care of the ceramics I buy from you?

The items are all dishwasher safe.
Anything with a metallic glaze should not be placed in the microwave, anything else can absolutely go into a microwave. If you’re unsure, you can always reach out to me via the About page.

How do I prevent water stains or marks from appearing on surfaces under ceramic pieces?

I highly recommend always using a coaster when placing ceramics onto porous surfaces like wood or unsealed marble or granite countertops. You will not see any moisture transfer on a quartz countertop.

For all vases, I highly recommend placing them on top of something like a book or other decorative element that you don’t mind getting damp or that is resistant to moisture.

How do I remove the spout from an oil bottle?

Here is a brief video I recorded to show you how to do this:
